Current Emergency Information

1/29/08: Winter has returned to Benton County with several inches of snow, icy roads, and ice on the Yakima River.  BCES has issued some tips to help cope with the cold weather and snow.  In addition, there are some areas of areas if localized flooding due to water flowing around ice jams in the Yakima River.  Residents who live along the Yakima are advised to monitor potential flooding in the area.

1/29/08: Warmer temperatures is melting ice and snow from local roads.  Drivers are asked to use caution when driving through standing water on neighborhood streets.  And residents are encourage to remove snow that has accumulated over storm drains in the streets.

2/04/08: Warmer temperatures and winds have dramatically reduced the amount of ice on the Yakima River.  Although some ice persists in the river, it appears that the potential for localized flooding due to ice jams has greatly diminished.
